Hydration

By Romaine Connell

Overall health and wellbeing depends on proper hydration. Not getting enough pure water on a daily basis can affect your health in many ways! Dry skin, constipation, joint pain, or bad breath… even low levels of dehydration can cause headaches and low energy. Lifestyle, environment, activity levels, diet and stress all play a role in our ability to stay properly hydrated.

Want to jazz up your hydration routine? Try herbal teas, hot or cold.  They make an interesting and flavourful, not to mention nutritious addition to staying well hydrated throughout the day. Nettle Peppermint on ice is fantastic! Have you tried Harmony Blend cold?  It makes a gorgeous red tea. Kids love it too! Or you can add lemon, cucumber slices or pineapple chunks to your water. Simply delicious, and gorgeously zen in a pitcher. Makes you want to drink more of it just because it looks so good! Start your day with a glass of warm water and freshly squeezed lemon. End your day with a cup of tea… that’s 2!

Working out like a champ? Try this Homemade Electrolyte Recipe and skip the sports drinks.  Add a pinch of quality sea salt, a teaspoon of raw local honey, and a squeeze of lemon to 500ml pure water and mix it all up. Delish!  Remember, water rich foods such as fruits and vegetables all count towards keeping your beautiful body hydrated. Don’t wait until you are thirsty to drink up. Cheers to your health!
